Orange drop capacitors are one of the highest quality capacitors in the world. Widely used in plenty of Gibson and Fender guitars (both old and new), they have gradually become a paramount addition to the tone potentiometer of many guitars.

Capacitors affect the high frequencies of your instruments. Adding one to your tone pot will smoothen (or tighten) the rolloff of high frequencies as you adjust the pot's settings.

Compared to to the other types of capacitors, orange drop capacitors prove to be the most stable and precise, no matter where and what you use your guitar with. This is why work so well with Gibson guitars, and certainly part of why vintage Gibsons sound so good.

General rule of thumb:
The higher the value of capacitor used, the darker your tone will be as you approach 0 on the tone knob.
